In an exploration of displacement through drawing for the Heralding Beyond project, a propositional drawing was rendered on a folded and layered surface. It was imprinted in multiple planes through laser etching and cutting, thus establishing its registration over multiple depths and, when unfolded, in multiple positions on the page.  Conceptually, the stencil and its resultant mark possess an intimate relationship founded in physical displacement. The voids in the proposed drawing method were themselves used as stencils in a generative fashion, further displacing the original propositional image while allowing the drawing to simultaneously act both as tool and as final product. The drawing constructed itself on both sides of the page, revealing only a portion of its entirety at a time.
